Our Appeals
2025 Winter Appeal
We’ll provide ‘sleeper chairs’ to allow loved ones to rest at the bedside
When patients are very sick and reaching the end of their life, having a familiar face at the bedside provides a comforting reassurance. Being there for patients when it matters most is crucial, reducing the fear and anxiety often felt by patients.
However, at the moment, most of our wards have no provision for family members to stay with patients. Families have no choice but to try and rest in uncomfortable upright plastic chairs, staying there for hours and days on end.
Using charitable donations, we will purchase comfortable sleeper chairs that convert into a bed. These will allow family members to be fully rested, while providing that all important familiar reassurance to patients.
We’ve got big plans for our children’s ward and we need your support
A visit to hospital can be stressful, and it’s even more daunting for children. We want to make our paediatrics department more welcoming and child-friendly by funding improvements to the environment that will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of our youngest patients.
Thanks to your donations, we’ve already made a great start.
We’ve completely transformed a room used to care for children in mental health crisis and we’ve created a new ‘chill-out’ space for adolescent patients. We’ve also purchased a VR headset that provides a calming distraction for children undergoing medical procedures.
We’re now making plans to refurbish the sensory room, but there’s so much more we need to do.
We’re reliant on charitable donations to bring our vision to life.

Courtyard Garden
Whittington Hospital urgently needs a safe, accessible, and stimulating outdoor space for our most vulnerable patients. With charitable support, we will turn an unsafe, unused courtyard into a tranquil garden with plants, music, covered seating, soft flooring, games and exercise equipment.
Patient and staff spaces in maternity
We know the physical environment plays a huge part in our patients’ wellbeing. This is especially true for women expecting a baby. Sadly, some of the rooms in the hospital are tired and drab and don’t promote relaxation and comfort. We are therefore delighted that House of Grey interior design studio have kindly agreed to help us transform the following three rooms, providing their services free of charge.
Counselling room in the early pregnancy unit
Staff room on the labour ward
Family room in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children
The world-renowned Michael Palin Centre for Stammering is dependent on charitable support to offer help to the 150,000 children in the UK living with a persistent stammer.
Urgent Assistance Fund
When a patient needs help and time is of the essence, the Charity can provide immediate support to relieve suffering or bring joy.
