Urgent Assistance Fund

Our Urgent Assistance Fund provides speedy support to patients when time is of the essence.

In June 2023, we received two particularly heartbreaking requests from Whittington Health staff:

  • £50 to purchase a Moses basket for a family wishing to transport their deceased baby. The family couldn't afford to purchase a basket themselves.

  • £60 for an ice slushy machine for a child receiving end-of-life care. The only thing the child, who had cancer, could eat or drink without pain was an ice slushy. Again, it was a situation in which the family didn’t have the financial means to buy one themselves.

We have a rigurous process for awarding charitable grants in response to staff requests. But, in instances like these and when the amount needed is relatively small, we need to move as quickly as possible.

Our response has been to launch the Urgent Assistance Fund.

When the need is urgent, and a relatively small sum could have a major impact through the relief of stress or pain, or indeed the delivery of joy, this fund is there to help.

We can only continue to support patients and families in need with your help.

Please give what you can afford and make a difference today.
